Mourners Call for Revenge During Khamenei Funeral Procession in Tehran

Tens of thousands of mourners filled the streets of Tehran on Monday as Iran held the funeral procession for late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with crowds chanting calls for revenge against the United States and President Donald Trump.
State-organised ceremonies saw mourners accompany coffins carrying Khamenei and several members of his family. Many participants waved Iranian flags, burned U.S. and British flags, and displayed banners blaming Washington and Israel for the assassination of the country’s longtime leader. Chants demanding retaliation echoed throughout the procession.
The funeral marks the latest stage of Iran’s week-long national mourning following Khamenei’s death during the recent conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States. His coffin is expected to travel to several religious sites before burial in the holy city of Mashhad.
The highly symbolic ceremony highlighted both public mourning and the country’s continued tensions with the US and Israel, as Iranian officials vowed that the Islamic Republic would remain resilient despite the loss of its supreme leader.
