The exclusive trailer drop, simulcast to fans and press across cities including Chicago, Toronto, London, Berlin and Abu Dhabi, offered a comprehensive look at the fallout from Paul Atreides’ ascent to power. Based on Frank Herbert’s novel «Dune Messiah», the upcoming film abandons the contemplative nature of its predecessors for ruthless political machinations and intergalactic warfare.
Navigating a blind future and old ghosts
Blinded by his own foresight, Paul confesses in the teaser that his visions have clouded, leaving him unable to see what lies ahead. This unprecedented vulnerability invites formidable threats to his galactic throne. Robert Pattinson joins the franchise as Scytale, a shapeshifting antagonist explicitly engineering a regime change from within.
Scytale weaponises Paul’s past by gifting the emperor a ghola, a resurrected clone, of fallen protector Duncan Idaho. The reunion is far from warm. In a tense exchange highlighted in the trailer, the revived warrior warns Paul that an impending peace proposal is secretly designed to destroy him, bluntly stating that the emperor is «way beyond redemption.»
