Turkey Signs New Hisar Air Defence Production Agreements

Turkey has signed new serial production agreements for its domestically developed Hisar-A and Hisar-O air defence missile systems, strengthening the country’s multi-layered «Steel Dome» air defence network.
The contracts were signed with leading defence companies Aselsan and Roketsan following decisions by Turkey’s Defence Industry Executive Committee. Defence Industries Secretary Haluk Gorgun said the agreements will accelerate mass production of the short- and medium-range air defence systems, which are designed to protect against aircraft, helicopters, drones and cruise missiles.
Gorgun said the expansion reflects Turkey’s growing defence-industrial capacity, which now includes more than 4,000 companies and around 100,000 engineers and technicians. He added that domestically developed defence projects help retain investment within the country while boosting industrial capabilities and employment.
The Hisar family of air defence systems, developed jointly by Aselsan, Roketsan and TÜBİTAK SAGE, forms a key layer of Türkiye’s indigenous Steel Dome architecture, aimed at providing integrated protection against a wide range of aerial threats and enhancing the country’s air defence capabilities.
