A supply chain insider has revealed new details regarding Apple’s upcoming smartphone lineup, including the 20th-anniversary iPhone 20 and the company’s first foldable device.

According to posts on the Chinese social media platform Weibo by the tipster Fixed Focus Digital, the iPhone 20 will feature a comprehensive glass construction. Expected to launch in 2027, the anniversary model will reportedly utilise a continuous glass rear panel instead of the segmented design seen on the current iPhone 17 Pro.

The tipster claims the new handset will match the ultra-thin profile of the recently released iPhone Air. It remains unclear whether this slim form factor will apply to the entire iPhone 20 lineup or solely to specific premium variants. To deal with the heat problems caused by a thinner chassis and insulating glass exterior, engineers are reportedly increasing the size of the internal vapour chamber cooling system by one inch.

Industry reports from Bloomberg in June previously indicated that Apple was preparing a massive design overhaul to commemorate the original iPhone’s 20th anniversary. Leaks suggest the technology giant might bypass the iPhone 19 moniker entirely, jumping straight to the iPhone 20 or iPhone XX.

Additional industry rumours point to radical visual changes for the 2027 flagship, including a micro-curved display that blends seamlessly into a remarkably thin frame. Apple is also reportedly working to eliminate the Dynamic Island by embedding both the selfie camera and Face ID sensors beneath the screen. The anniversary handset could feature an advanced 2-nanometre A21 processor, a 6,000mAh battery and solid-state haptic buttons.

Foldable iPhone Ultra on track

In a separate update, Fixed Focus Digital addressed the production status of the foldable iPhone Ultra. The insider dismissed recent rumours that technical difficulties had delayed the project, confirming that early manufacturing hurdles have now been resolved. Apple is now expected to unveil the foldable handset later this year.

Supply chain data indicates the technology giant has increased its production targets for the iPhone Ultra to approximately 10mn units. Similar to the anniversary model, the foldable device will use an advanced vapour chamber system to dissipate heat from its internal components during heavy workloads.
