Sony and Marvel’s «Spider-Man: Brand New Day» surpassed the $1bn global box office mark in just six days. Starring Tom Holland, the feature reached this financial milestone at a pace second only to 2019’s «Avengers: Endgame.»
The superhero adventure generated $407mn across North America within four days, becoming the fastest release to reach $400mn domestically. Its overseas total currently stands at $645.8mn. The film also recorded the highest-grossing Monday in cinema history with $47mn, overtaking the previous benchmark established by «Black Panther» in 2018. The feature reached this milestone at a pace second only to 2019’s «Avengers: Endgame.»
Surpassing early projections, the picture opened to $360mn domestically and $932mn worldwide. These weekend figures represent the largest North American premiere ever and the second-largest global debut. Buoyed by positive word-of-mouth and minimal competition, ticket sales are expected to comfortably cross the rare $2bn threshold before the end of its theatrical run.
Isolated hero faces emerging threats
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, this fourth standalone instalment in Holland’s series picks up four years after the events of «Spider-Man: No Way Home». Peter Parker now lives in complete isolation after erasing his identity from the world’s memory to save the multiverse. Operating anonymously, he has dedicated himself full-time to protecting New York City.
However, the relentless pressure sparks a dangerous physical mutation that Parker struggles to control. As he battles his evolving abilities and profound loneliness, a formidable array of villains emerges. The web-slinger is forced to confront threats from a shadowy telepath alongside foes such as Scorpion and Tombstone, plunging the city into a renewed crisis. Expanding the cinematic universe
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told Variety he did not anticipate «Endgame’s» domestic record falling but welcomed the overwhelming success of the 38th Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Feige suggested this enthusiastic audience reception bodes well for the franchise’s future, specifically December’s «Avengers: Doomsday,» which reintroduces Robert Downey Jr. as the villain Doctor Doom.
The unprecedented speed of these ticket sales has reinvigorated cinema operators. North American box office revenues from May to early August have tallied $3.579bn. Depending on the ongoing momentum of current features alongside upcoming major releases, Hollywood executives remain optimistic the overall domestic box office will eclipse $10bn this year for the first time since 2019.
Central Asian premiere schedule
While international rollouts began earlier in the summer, fans in Central Asia have their own release schedule. «Spider-Man: Brand New Day» is set to premiere in cinemas across Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan on August 6, 2026. The regional debut will feature Russian dubbing alongside local language options, bringing the highly anticipated Marvel spectacle to audiences in both nations.
