Samsung is reportedly expanding its upcoming flagship smartphone lineup to include four devices in the first quarter of next year. Recent leaks suggest the tech giant will launch the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro and the top-tier Galaxy S27 Ultra simultaneously.
While the official launch is still months away, early computer-aided design renders and industry rumours have provided a clear view of the next generation. The upcoming lineup appears to balance familiar form factors with substantial internal upgrades, targeting battery life, processing power and photography.
Ultra model embraces a camera plateau
The Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature the most significant visual overhaul in the series. According to tipsters, Samsung is abandoning its individual camera lens cutouts in favour of a wider camera plateau. Some early online reactions have likened the new aesthetic to competing flagship devices, but the design choice is primarily practical.
The unified module aims to eliminate the table wobble that plagued previous generations and will better accommodate new built-in magnets for Qi2-standard wireless charging accessories.

Despite the rear redesign, the Ultra will retain almost the exact dimensions as its predecessor, featuring a flat display and a flat aluminium frame. The device is expected to use a customised Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor.
Battery capacity is rumoured to jump to 5,700 mAh, a significant increase intended to support heavy usage. The camera system is also receiving a major tune-up. Samsung will reportedly ditch the ageing 10-megapixel telephoto lens, opting instead for a single 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. This will sit alongside a new 200-megapixel main sensor and a 50-megapixel Sony ultrawide lens.
Standard model sticks to familiar aesthetics
In contrast to the Ultra, the base Galaxy S27 will retain the design language of the Galaxy S26. Leaked dimensions show the phone will measure 149.75 by 71.88 by 7.25 millimetres, essentially confirming another compact 6.3-inch display. The pill-shaped rear camera module, flat metal frame and punch-hole selfie camera remain intact.
However, the internal hardware tells a different story. Samsung is allegedly outfitting the standard model with a new silicon-carbon battery, increasing capacity by roughly 14% to 4,900 mAh without expanding the phone’s physical footprint.
For the first time in over five years, the base model might also see a primary camera sensor change. Rumours indicate Samsung is testing a Sony sensor for the main camera, moving away from its proprietary ISOCELL technology for the entry-level flagship model. Processing power will likely remain fragmented by region, with some markets receiving the Exynos 2700 chip while others get the Snapdragon equivalent.

Anticipated pricing and release timeline
Consumers will likely pay more for these upgrades. Skyrocketing memory and component costs are projected to drive retail prices up across the entire S27 range. The Galaxy S27 Ultra could see an 8% price increase in its domestic market, which typically translates to a bump of at least $100 in the United States and Europe. The base Galaxy S27 is also expected to start higher, potentially nearing the $999 mark.
Based on historical launch windows, Samsung will likely unveil the devices at a Galaxy Unpacked event in January or February 2027.
