Xi Jinping, Trump, and Putin congratulate Mirziyoyev on Uzbekistan’s 35th Independence Day
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has received congratulatory messages from world leaders as Uzbekistan marked the 35th anniversary of its independence, with the greetings highlighting the country’s reforms, expanding international partnerships and growing role in Central Asia.
Messages were sent by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, U.S. President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron and the leaders of Uzbekistan’s Central Asian neighbours, among others, the presidential press service said.
Trump said the anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on Uzbekistan’s history and culture while noting the expansion of bilateral relations.
«As Uzbekistan implements important and targeted reforms, our strategic partnership also continues to expand and develop,» Trump said.
He pointed to cooperation on border security, trade, investment, energy and regional connectivity, adding that the United States looked forward to strengthening ties further and exploring new areas of cooperation.
Xi congratulated Mirziyoyev and the Uzbek people on the anniversary, saying Uzbekistan had achieved significant progress during its 35 years of independence, particularly over the past decade. The message came as the two countries continue to deepen economic, investment and infrastructure cooperation.
Putin said Uzbekistan was moving confidently along the path of economic and social development and had earned a strong international reputation. He described relations between Moscow and Tashkent as a strategic partnership and alliance.
Central Asian neighbours highlight regional ties
Uzbekistan’s closest regional partners were also among those sending messages to Mirziyoyev. Kazakhstan’s Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan’s Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan’s Emomali Rahmon and Turkmenistan’s Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the Uzbek president and people on the 35th anniversary of independence.
Their messages reflected the growing emphasis on cooperation among Central Asian states, with leaders highlighting historical ties, good-neighbourly relations and shared regional interests.
Macron congratulated Mirziyoyev and the Uzbek people while underlining France’s role as a long-term partner in areas including energy, transport, health care, education and urban infrastructure.
The French president said Paris was committed to expanding cooperation with Tashkent and welcomed the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
«I am determined to further expand and strengthen the pace and scope of our cooperation,» Macron said.
International partners praise Uzbekistan’s transformation
The list of congratulatory messages also included European Council President António Costa, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, as well as leaders of other countries and international organisations.
Costa said Uzbekistan had become one of Central Asia’s most dynamic and rapidly developing economies in recent years and praised its increasingly important role in promoting regional connectivity, prosperity and cooperation.
The authors of the messages noted Uzbekistan’s social and economic development and expressed support for further expansion of trade, investment, transport, energy and cultural ties.
The greetings also recognised Uzbekistan’s role in strengthening peace, stability and cooperation in Central Asia, as the country celebrated 35 years since gaining independence.
