DC Universe fans suspect Adria Arjona will play Wonder Woman in upcoming films following a cryptic workout video and past comments from DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn.

Speculation intensified after Women’s Health released a seven-minute video showcasing the actress performing an intense boxing and strength routine. While Arjona noted the training prepared her for the film «Onslaught,» fans zeroed in on her phrasing regarding an unannounced DC character.

«I think the excitement of playing the woman I’m playing gives me everything I need to wake up,» Arjona said in the footage. «Physically, it’s exhausting, but it’s all for the greater good.»

The emphasis on «the woman I’m playing,» coupled with Wonder Woman headlines flashing on screen during the segment, led viewers to theorise she is secretly portraying Diana Prince rather than the obscure DC character Maxima.

Arjona reportedly landed the Maxima role in April, but audiences now suspect a deliberate misdirection by studio executives ahead of the July 2027 theatrical release of «Superman: Man of Tomorrow.» The tactical denial aligns with past superhero studio strategies to protect massive reveals.

Previous hints from studio leadership

Gunn previously acknowledged the fan casting in July 2025 after his decision to follow Arjona on Instagram sparked initial Wonder Woman rumours.

At the time, the director dismissed the social media activity as a natural consequence of their long-standing friendship, which began when they worked on a film seven years prior.

However, Gunn notably added, «She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way.»

Social media users quickly circulated the workout clip, asserting her physique and evasive language confirm the major superhero casting. One user highlighted the studio’s success if the casting proves true, noting the public’s immediate acceptance of her as the iconic Amazonian warrior. Fans continue dissecting her public appearances and press tour interviews for further verification.

The broader DC Universe slate

The studio has yet to officially cast Wonder Woman for its rebooted cinematic universe. As Gunn builds the foundation with David Corenswet taking over the Superman mantle, several major roles remain unconfirmed or actively obscured from the press.

The current production slate includes an array of established and lesser-known characters. Milly Alcock will portray Supergirl, Aaron Pierre is set as John Stewart and Xolo Maridueña returns as Blue Beetle. The television side expands the mythos further through the upcoming «Lanterns» series and October’s «Clayface» debut.
