Xiaomi 18 Pro may come with two 200MP cameras and huge battery
Xiaomi might have a pretty big answer to the usual flagship trade-off between battery life and camera quality. Tech reviewers suggest that the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max versions might have 7,000 mAh and 8,500 mAh batteries, respectively, ahead of their launches in China on 23 September.
The Chinese company claims that both new Pro models will use a Leica camera system based on two 200-megapixel sensors, describing it as its most advanced mobile camera setup to date. The exact focal lengths and sensor sizes have not been disclosed.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra already has a 200MP Leica-tuned camera, but the 18 Pro line appears to be expanding that resolution to a second major lens rather than just one specialised camera.
The 18-series phones are also expected to use a new 2 nm processor, which is widely thought to be Qualcomm‘s next Snapdragon 8 Elite generation. Xiaomi has not yet confirmed the chip’s name. The displays will feature a new-generation Super Pixel panel with claimed bezels of only 0.99mm.

Xiaomi’s secondary display
And Xiaomi is retaining one of the Xiaomi 17 Pro’s more unusual features: a small secondary display built into the rear camera island. The company has already shown that the 18 Pro retains that design feature.
Since its debut in India, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, the newest member of Xiaomi’s existing flagship lineup, has made its nearly 10,000 mAh battery a key selling point. Even though the tech advisor had issues with the display’s software, performance, and calibration, they thought its durability was exceptional.
It’s worth watching if Xiaomi can successfully incorporate battery-first thinking into a true flagship while maintaining camera quality and weight.

India has already shown why the battery matters
Battery capacity has become an increasingly visible battleground in India’s smartphone market.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max launched in India this month with a 10,000mAh battery, 100W charging and a starting price around ₹49,999. Reviews praised its endurance and rugged construction, although the phone’s size, middling performance and busy software remain trade-offs.
That context makes the rumoured Xiaomi 18 Pro Max particularly interesting. The standard Xiaomi 17 sold in India with a 7,000mAh battery, while the 17 Ultra used 6,800mAh in China.
