HoYoverse has announced an opera collaboration for Genshin Impact Version 7.1, casting Russian classical singer Daria Terekhova to provide vocal performances. The partnership forms the cornerstone of the developer’s «Snezhnaya Cultural Co-Creation Series», an initiative designed to integrate diverse artistic mediums into the game.
Terekhova brings substantial pedigree to the project as the principal soprano of the Stanislavsky Theatre. Her real-world repertoire spans acclaimed performances in The Magic Flute, Così fan tutte and The Tale of Tsar Saltan.
In Genshin Impact, she lends her classical training to Vodyanitsa, a character styled as the primadonna of the Royal Opera in Snezhnaya. For this crossover, Terekhova performs a bespoke track called «A Winter Night’s Aria.»
A royal performance in Snezhnaya
Vodyanitsa arrives as a five-star Hydro Catalyst character who functions as a versatile off-field support. Her gameplay kit scales heavily with her maximum health, allowing her to heal party members while shredding enemy resistances and buffing Hydro, Cryo and the newly introduced Stellar Swirl reaction damage.
When activating her abilities, Vodyanitsa’s visual effects include summoning microphones and singing a cappella, directly mirroring Terekhova’s real-world vocal contributions.
The soprano shared a brief teaser of the project on her official social media accounts, expressing her excitement at portraying the Snezhnayan primadonna. She confirmed that fans can expect a complete video clip and an accompanying interview to arrive shortly. To mark the announcement, Terekhova distributed the promo code OPERACOLLAB, which players can redeem for in-game rewards.
This crossover is not HoYoverse’s first venture into integrating external musical talent into its expanding roster. Last year, the studio pulled in Norwegian alt-pop artist Aurora for a major collaboration, setting a precedent for attaching prominent vocalists to major game updates.
