Google‘s new Googlebook laptops have officially gone on sale, with five models from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo starting at $899 in the United States. The devices run Google’s new Android-based operating system, combining Gemini AI features with premium hardware and closer integration with Android smartphones.

Google opened pre-orders on September 21, with sales beginning on October 4 in the US and October 5 in Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia.

Unlike Chromebooks, which primarily target budget-conscious consumers and educational institutions, Googlebooks compete directly with Apple’s MacBooks and premium Windows laptops. All five models come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage in their standard configurations.
