Chris Pratt has confirmed that Star-Lord will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), revealing that Marvel Studios has already taken concrete steps towards bringing the character back after a three-year absence.

The actor discussed his future as Peter Quill during an appearance on The Bingeworthy podcast, published by The Playlist on October 21, while promoting the second season of The Terminal List.

Pratt said he remains in contact with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and co-president Louis D’Esposito about fulfilling the promise made at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

«There have been both ongoing conversations about how we make good on that promise and also hard action taken,» Pratt said.

He added that audiences would see Star-Lord again but declined to reveal when or in which project the character would return.

Pratt last portrayed Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2023. The film ended with Quill leaving his teammates and returning to Earth to reconnect with his grandfather.

A post-credits message promised that Star-Lord would return, although Marvel has yet to announce his next appearance.

Could star-lord return in Avengers: Doomsday?

Pratt’s comments come as Marvel prepares to release Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027.

Although the upcoming films will bring together several established MCU characters, Pratt has not been officially announced as part of either cast.

Earlier this year, the actor revealed that he had pitched his own idea for Star-Lord’s future to Feige.

During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast in January, Pratt described his proposed storyline as a strong concept that could contribute to Marvel’s next decade of films.

He also expressed interest in working with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn again, although he acknowledged that Gunn’s current responsibilities as co-head of DC Studios would make a reunion unlikely.

Pratt has portrayed Star-Lord since the first Guardians of the Galaxy film in 2014, appearing in three standalone instalments alongside Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder.
