President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a visit to the new Republican Oncology Center on Thursday, August 29, as reported by the president’s press office.

Situated near the Tashkent Medical Academy, the new nine-building Center boasts 650 inpatient and 80 day beds and can provide outpatient treatment to 500 individuals daily. The government allocated 1.2 billion soums for this project’s construction.

Also, during the construction phase, stringent attention was paid to the needs of both medical professionals and patients.

In accordance with European and American standards, the complex features 17 clinical departments, 18 operating rooms and 42 intensive care rooms, with equipment from Siemens and Fuji.

A considerable number of specialists had already received training abroad to operate this equipment, and an additional 1,200 local oncologists are slated to undergo similar training.

A notable addition is the launch of a nuclear medicine department comprising nine bunkers for radiation therapy, a first of its kind. During his visit, President Mirziyoyev underscored the importance of enhancing the integration of artificial intelligence and digitalisation.

“The center should not only be linked to Tashkent but to 15 regional hospitals, enabling patients to schedule their visits in advance and know the doctor,” emphasised Mirziyoyev.

Furthermore, plans are underway to connect the Center and its regional branches to a unified electronic platform, with the anticipation of launching a nationwide “cancer-register” system.

The Dmed medical system is scheduled to be operational in the capital by the end of the year, with a subsequent rollout to all regions of the country.
