More Coca-Cola to be produced in Uzbekistan
Coca-Cola is planning to expand its production in Uzbekistan. Ezel Agaoglu, the CEO of Coca-Cola Ichimligi Uzbekiston Ltd, discussed this matter with Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov at a meeting on September 12.
Coca-Cola has been operating in Uzbekistan since 1993 and opened its fourth plant in the Jambay district of the Samarkand region in May of this year.
The fifth plant in Namangan is scheduled to open in 2025. This decision was made during a meeting between the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, CEO James Quincy, and Chairman of Anadolu Group, Tunjai Ozilhan.
The company also invests in the region’s environmental protection and socio-economic development. The International Finance Corporation granted Coca-Cola İçecek, which holds a controlling stake in the Uzbek division, a $250 million loan.
With this funding, the largest soft drink producer can recycle plastic containers in the country, increase the number of women employed, and incorporate energy-efficient technologies.
Coca-Cola is the world’s most valuable soft drink brand, estimated at $33.5 billion.
