Senators Voted to Protect Women and Children from Domestic Violence
Senators in the Oliy Majlis have approved a bill to enhance the protection of women and children from domestic violence, as reported by the press service of the upper house of parliament.
The bill introduces liability for committing violence against a child into the criminal and administrative codes.
The document also establishes a procedure for seeking reconciliation in cases of domestic violence during court proceedings. Such documents can be submitted to the court at almost any point during the hearing.
During the Senate session, it was noted that the approved bill was developed with the World Bank’s recommendation in mind. The new document is expected to enhance the effectiveness of measures aimed at preventing harassment and violence against children and women.
