What Does Mirziyoyev Propose During CIS Heads of State Council Meeting

On October 8, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the routine CIS Heads of State Council meeting led by Russian President Vladimir Putin. President Mirziyoyev introduced several proposals concerning trade, cybersecurity and cultural cooperation.

The summit saw the participation of the presidents of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, along with the Prime Minister of Armenia.

During his speech, Mirziyoyev discussed crucial topics of security and sustainable development. The president stressed the significance of cooperation among the CIS countries’ special services in addressing contemporary challenges. He also underlined the need for joint efforts to enhance cybersecurity.

The President of Uzbekistan has announced that the trade turnover with CIS countries has seen a 16% increase since the beginning of the year. He proposed convening a meeting of the CIS Economic Council at the Innoprom International Industrial Exhibition in Tashkent next spring, potentially leading to further economic cooperation and growth within the region.

The agenda also included discussions on advancing Internet technologies, promoting green energy, and addressing climate challenges. Mirziyoyev suggested holding regular meetings of CIS experts and analysts. Additionally, there was a proposal to host the next conference in Samarkand, explicitly focusing on artificial intelligence.

To promote greater humanitarian collaboration, he suggested organising Commonwealth Culture Days and establishing a yearly schedule of collaborative activities in healthcare, education, art, sports and tourism.
