Men and women engage in corruption schemes at different levels, according to Oliver Stolpe, Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan.

“In many societies, it’s not surprising that women request bribes far less often. More notably, female public officials show a 50-60% lower likelihood of involvement in corruption schemes compared to their male colleagues,” Stolpe stated at the 4th Tashkent Anti-Corruption Forum.

Stolpe joked that these statistics “say a lot about men.”

The 4th Tashkent Anti-Corruption Forum, held on October 17, brought together more than 250 anti-corruption officials, civil society representatives, and international experts.
