Uzbekistan to provide gas and electricity compensation for low-income families
Low-income families in Uzbekistan will get one-off payments to cover gas and electricity costs, according to the National Agency for Social Protection.
Around 1.4 mln families will receive cash assistance, with 370 bln soum allocated for this support. Local administrations, the Mahalla Association, and other organisations will compile the lists of eligible recipients.
The initiative aims to help struggling families during the heating season. It includes 1.2 million families already registered for assistance through the “Unified Social Protection Register” and an additional 180,000 households.
Each family will receive 270,000 soum, which Halk Bank will transfer to their cards by November 27. The 1140 hotline is available for further details.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that the government planned to allocate 50,000 hectares of land to low-income families.
