Uzum supports Uzbekistani Women in IT and collaborates with Women in Tech
The national digital ecosystem, Uzum, and the Uzbek branch of the international organization Women in Tech have signed a memorandum of cooperation. The partners plan to focus on training and creating mentoring programs for girls and women either currently working in IT or are interested in starting a career in the digital industry.
“I see great potential for joint projects with Uzum, as it is not only an innovative company in technology and ecosystem products but also empowers women in Uzbekistan to achieve financial independence through training in e-commerce tools,” says Anna Ambrozevich, Director of Women in Tech Uzbekistan.
Uzum actively supports and develops women’s communities within and throughout the company.
“We support women entrepreneurs who use Uzum Market as a launchpad for their business development, and we actively train and recruit girls into Uzum’s IT team,” says Zinaida Starukhina, HR Director of the Uzum ecosystem. “We are excited to cooperate with Women in Tech, as this opens new opportunities for women and girls in Uzbekistan’s IT sector. By developing their potential, we contribute to the growth of innovation in the country and create conditions for a more inclusive and equitable future in the technology industry.”
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Uzum Market and UNDP have trained more than 200 women in the basics of entrepreneurship.
