Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed new economic and political initiatives to strengthen cooperation among Turkic states. During the Organisation of Turkic States summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, he suggested hosting a Turkic Investment Forum in Uzbekistan. The forum would support large-scale projects under the Turkic Investment Fund and pave the way for a Turkic Development Bank to bolster economic ties.

Mirziyoyev also called on member nations to support a peaceful solution in the Middle East. Expressing concern over the humanitarian crises in Gaza and Lebanon, he condemned attacks on civilians and supported an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.

Turning to Afghanistan, Mirziyoyev stressed the need for ongoing dialogue to ensure regional stability. He noted that Uzbekistan stands ready to collaborate on economic and social projects in Afghanistan to promote peace across Central Asia.

The President outlined several additional economic initiatives, including the creation of a shared economic space to streamline trade and remove barriers. He proposed a forum in Tashkent for experts to discuss expanding trade opportunities within the Turkic states. In another forward-looking step, Mirziyoyev recommended an International Logistics Conference to improve regional transit links.

One of his proposals, the Digital Turkic World, aims to foster technology and IT knowledge-sharing within the region and drive digital transformation among Turkic states.

After the summit, leaders signed the Bishkek Declaration, the Charter of the Turkic World, and other agreements to solidify these initiatives.
