Manchester City plans to purchase Uzbek footballer Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens, according to sports journalist Florian Plettenberg on his X page.
Plettenberg reports that the English club is prepared to offer Lens 50 mln euros for Khusanov. Previously, it was noted that other prominent clubs such as Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus were also interested in the player from Uzbekistan.
Khusanov was born on February 29, 2004. He began his football career with the youth team of Bunyodkor, later playing for Belarus’ Energetik-BGU. Since 2023, Khusanov has been with the French club Lens, where he signed a four-year contract. In the current season, he has played in 13 out of 16 matches for the team.
In early January this year, Lens fans recognised Khusanov as the club’s best player. A poll revealed that he received 77% of the votes.
Khusanov has appeared in 18 matches for the Uzbekistan national team and participated in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Laziz Kuchkarov has resigned as head of Uzbekistan’s Centre of Football Referees.
