Restriction on AI-80 Petrol Sales Extended Until End of 2025
The sale of AI-80 petrol in Uzbekistan is set to be restricted until the end of 2025, as outlined in a decree by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev regarding implementing the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy.
The decree also proposes limiting the use and sale of all fuels below Euro-4 standards. Previously, it was planned to phase out non-ecological fuels gradually until 2028.
The decree suggests banning the use of fuel oil in boiler houses and thermal power plants until the end of 2025. However, the use of this type of fuel will be permitted in emergencies.
A separate section of the decree addresses enterprises with harmful emissions. It proposes prohibiting the construction of cement and asbestos plants, poultry farms, and enterprises classified as I and II hazard classes in Tashkent, Nukus, and regional centers. This restriction will take effect on May 1, 2025.
Burning coal without quality filters will be prohibited in the cities above.
It is worth noting that President Mirziyoyev instructed Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov to consider banning AI-80 petrol in Tashkent earlier last year. Following this, the Bukhara refinery announced plans to stop producing this fuel; however, the modernisation of the facility will take at least two years.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Uzbekistan will develop a national program on green finance.
