Chinese authorities are considering the possibility of selling TikTok’s American assets to billionaire Elon Musk, according to a report by Bloomberg, which cites sources in the Chinese government.

The Chinese government has not yet reached a final decision on this matter. While Beijing would prefer to keep the social media division under the ownership of its parent company, ByteDance, U.S. courts and authorities disagree with this approach and are demanding the sale of these assets.

In April 2024, President Joe Biden signed a law requiring that TikTok’s assets be transferred to an American company. If this does not happen, the social network will face a ban in the United States.

The Biden administration has expressed concerns regarding national security and the protection of personal data for American citizens as the reason for the requirements placed on TikTok.

It has been reported that TikTok may be blocked in the U.S. on January 19. Earlier, President-elect Donald Trump requested the court to delay the ban on the social network, stating that he could negotiate a compromise with the Chinese authorities.

Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Elon Musk is looking to force the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
