Mirziyoyev Condemns State Companies and Agencies for Ineffective Investment Policies
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan issued a strong warning to the leaders of Uztransgaz, Uzmetkombinat and Uzsuvta’minot due to issues with implementing their investment plans, according to the Press-Office of the head of state.
Investments have reportedly halved in Uztransgaz and Uzmetkombinat, while Uzsuvta’minot has seen a 20% decrease in its investments.
Mirziyoyev also criticized the Ministry of Ecology, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Agency for State Assets Management for failing to meet their grant attraction goals, which were not even achieved by 25%.
Grants obtained by the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Transport each totalled less than $10 mln.
Moreover, the efforts to attract investments and grants from departments responsible for education, healthcare, sports, and other sectors fell short of the available opportunities.
The report highlighted that in 2024, Uzbekistan received less than $100 mln in investments from countries with significant potential, including France, Japan, Italy, Hungary, Malaysia and Spain.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade (Mininvest) disagreed with the conclusions drawn by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) regarding the decline in foreign investment in Uzbekistan.
