India Becomes World’s Fourth-Largest Economy

India has surpassed the United Kingdom to become the world’s fourth-largest economy by GDP at the end of 2024, The Economic Times reports.

India now ranks behind the United States, China, Germany, and Japan in terms of domestic production.

The Indian government aims to position the country as the world’s third-largest economy by GDP by 2027 and plans to significantly expand domestic production by 2047. Measures include supporting small and medium-sized businesses, developing infrastructure, and integrating into global supply chains.
