Uzbekistan’s Population Reaches 37.5 Mn

By the end of 2024, Uzbekistan’s permanent population reached 37.5 mn, marking a 2% increase compared to 2023, according to a report by the Statistics Agency.

As of early 2025, the country had 18.9 mn men and 18.6 mn women. Urban residents accounted for 51% of the population, while rural residents made up 49%.

The population density was recorded at 83.6 people per square kilometre. The highest density was observed in Tashkent, with over 6,900 people per square kilometre, followed by the Andijan region with 804.9, and the Fergana region with 613.1.

Birth rates in Uzbekistan declined by 3.7% over the year, totalling 926,400 births. Urban areas accounted for 49.1% of births, while rural areas contributed 50.9%.
