The 2025 BRICS summit is set to be held on July 6 and 7 in Rio de Janeiro, the official website of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva confirms.

The announcement came on February 15 from Brazil’s Foreign Minister, Mauro Vieira, alongside the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes.

«It is an immense pleasure to further strengthen the collaboration and partnership between the federal government and Rio de Janeiro. We will be welcoming the heads of state from the 20 BRICS countries, including both full members and partners,» said Minister Vieira.

The summit will bring together leaders from BRICS member states and its partner nations.

This year, Brazil is serving as the chair of BRICS.

In 2024, Russia hosted the summit in Kazan, where President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated.

Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Uzbekistan became a BRICS partner on January 1, and Indonesia joined the organisation as a full member.
