Kazakhstan to Invest $2.1 bn in Aviation Hub Development
Kazakhstan is advancing its aviation infrastructure by focusing on the modernization of six key airports, with an anticipated $2.1 bn in private investments allocated for these projects. These airports are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing Kazakhstan’s logistics and cargo capabilities.
The investment will target several critical areas:
- Runway infrastructure: Upgrading runways to accommodate larger aircraft and increase operational efficiency.
- Terminal facilities: Expanding and modernizing passenger terminals to handle higher volumes of travelers.
- Air traffic control systems: Enhancing air traffic management to ensure safety and efficiency in airspace operations.
Kazakhstan’s strategic location in Central Asia offers significant advantages for trade and transport. Modernizing its aviation infrastructure is expected to position the country as a key player in the region’s air transport network, benefiting industries that rely on efficient logistics.
In 2024, Kazakhstan made significant strides in modernizing its air transport infrastructure, opening three new passenger terminals at the airports of Almaty, Shymkent, and Kyzylorda. These upgrades are expected to expand the capacity of these airports, increase the number of air routes, and stimulate growth in passenger traffic.
Additionally, Kazakhstan expanded its international air route network to 22 new destinations in 2024, enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth.
