On February 21, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree to further develop the country’s housing and mortgage market. The decree outlines plans to construct 135,000 apartments across various regions, totaling 8.1 mln square meters of living space.

Additionally, subsidies for mortgage loans will increase by 1.5 times. The state will allocate UZS 2.5 trln ($222.2 mln) from the national budget to cover part of the down payment and interest payments for mortgages.

The government will also provide UZS 20.9 trln ($1.85 bn) in mortgage loans to support the housing market. To help construction companies, UZS 700 bn ($62.2 mln) will be allocated from the state budget, and UZS 3 trln ($266.3 mln) will come from commercial banks to support organizations building multi-apartment complexes, including in areas like New Uzbekistan.

Starting from March 1, new territories for residential areas in “Yangi Uzbekistan” will be selected based on urbanization principles. This ensures that housing development aligns with modern planning standards.
