Some fans of Manchester City have criticised Uzbekistani player Abdukodir Khusanov and suggested selling him after he scored an own goal in the match against Brighton, according to Football Insider.

Despite the criticism, there were also fans who supported Khusanov. English head coach Josep “Pep” Guardiola praised him, stating that Khusanov performed well overall.

«Jérémy was incredibly dangerous. Omar played very well, scoring a goal and making an effective pass. Ruben and Khusa (Abdukodir Khusanov) were great. In general, everything was good. We started the second half with a score of 2:1 and created great chances. In the end, we lost concentration, made a mistake, and the opponent equalized. It happens,» said Guardiola.

Sports commentator Davron Faiziyev also defended Khusanov, noting that he played better than many of his teammates.

«It was not Khusanov’s natural position, but he moved to strengthen the defense, and the ball accidentally touched his foot. Scoring an own goal is always a challenge. I believe Guardiola will not have a negative assessment of him,» emphasised Faiziyev.

It’s worth noting that the match between Manchester City and Brighton took place on March 15. Khusanov came onto the pitch in the second half and accidentally put the ball into his own net just two minutes after play resumed.
