
The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) has released the 2025 Global Terrorism Index (GTI), assessing the impact of terrorism worldwide. The report includes rankings for Central Asian countries based on recorded incidents and overall security conditions.
Central Asia’s Rankings
The latest GTI places three Central Asian nations—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan—at 100th place, each with a score of 0, indicating no recorded terrorist impact.
Uzbekistan ranks in the 90s with a score of 0.233, while Tajikistan holds the 70th position with a score of 0.999. According to the index, countries with a score of zero are classified as having no terrorist impact.
Global Context
The 2025 GTI identifies Burkina Faso as the most affected country, followed by Pakistan and Syria in second and third place, respectively. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of global terrorism trends, highlighting regions with significant risks and those maintaining stability.
The findings reaffirm Central Asia’s relative security, with most countries maintaining minimal to no impact from terrorism.
