29 Small Hydropower Plants to Be Built in Tashkent Region

The Tashkent regional administration has announced plans to construct 29 small and micro hydropower plants (HPPs) across the region, allocating 6.7 hectares of land for the initiative.
According to the regional government, the total installed capacity of the new facilities will exceed 2.5 megawatts (MW). The projects will be implemented across seven districts and three regional-level cities.
Breakdown of planned construction:
- Bukinsky district – 7 HPPs
- Chinaz district – 6 HPPs
- Yangiyul district – 4 HPPs
- Ahangaran district – 3 HPPs
- Zangiata district – 2 HPPs
- Parkent and Akkurgan districts – 1 HPP each
Small and micro HPPs will be built in the cities of Chirchik, Nurafshan and Angren.
This move is part of Uzbekistan’s broader efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity and enhance energy sustainability across regions.
