ERG Co-owner Alexander Mashkevich Dies at 71

Alexander Mashkevich, co-owner of the Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) and a prominent figure in Kazakhstan’s business and finance sectors, has passed away at the age of 71. This news was confirmed by a source to Tengrinews.kz.
Mashkevich was a shareholder and the Chairman of the Board of Directors at ERG, which he co-owned alongside Patokh Shodiev, the Ibragimov family and the government of Kazakhstan. ERG is one of the largest industrial groups in the country, encompassing major companies such as TNK Kazchrome, the Sokolov-Sarbai Mining and Processing Production Association, Aluminium of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Electrolysis Plant.
In addition to his role at ERG, Mashkevich was a co-owner of several key financial and industrial enterprises, including the Eurasian Financial Company JSC, the Eurasian Industrial Company JSC and the Eurasian Production Company LLP, in partnership with Shodiev and the Ibragimov family. He also held the position of Chairman of the Boards of Directors for both the Eurasian Financial Company and Eurasian Bank, and he was a member of the Foreign Investors Council under the President of Kazakhstan.
Beyond his business ventures, Mashkevich served as the Honorary President of the Equestrian Federation of Kazakhstan, highlighting his commitment to sports development in the country. His passing marks the end of an era in Kazakhstan’s industrial and financial landscape, where he played a pivotal role for decades.
