Beeline Uzbekistan Appoints Gediz Sezgin as Chief Technology and Innovation Officer

Beeline Uzbekistan is strategically strengthening its technology and innovation division: former CTO of Turkcell, Gediz Sezgin, has been appointed as the Chief Technology and Innovation Officer.

Beeline Uzbekistan, part of the international telecommunications group VEON, announces the creation of a unified department for technology and innovation. This new division will consolidate IT operations, technical infrastructure, cybersecurity, and the development of strategic digital solutions. It will be led by Gediz Sezgin, who has assumed the position of Chief Technology and Innovation Officer (CTIO) as of April 2025.

The appointment of Gediz Sezgin reflects the company’s strategic focus on accelerating digital transformation, enhancing infrastructure resilience, and implementing advanced solutions for the benefit of customers, partners, and the industry.

Gediz Sezgin is a renowned international expert with more than 28 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. From 2015 to 2023, he served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Turkey’s largest mobile operator, Türkcell, where he successfully led the transformation of the company’s networks, IT systems, and digital platforms. He was also a member of the board of directors at Turkcell Superonline, overseeing the development of fixed infrastructure and broadband internet.

Among his professional accomplishments are the implementation of solutions in the fields of CRM, billing, data storage, voice, and digital services. Under his leadership, key technological initiatives were successfully carried out, including the deployment of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) networks, infrastructure preparation for the launch of 4.5G (LTE), and the development of innovative methods for network integration to ensure seamless coverage without signal loss and implementation of large data center projects.

Sezgin graduated from Istanbul Technical University, where he also earned a PhD in communication technologies. In 2018, he was recognized as CTO of the Year and included in the list of 50 Innovators to Watch.

In his new role, Sezgin will be responsible for developing network and IT infrastructure, driving innovation, implementing advanced cybersecurity practices, and executing the company’s technology strategy in alignment with VEON Group’s global priorities.
