Uzbek Citizens Warned About Employment Fraud in Turkey

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has warned Uzbek citizens about a growing number of employment-related fraud cases in Turkey.
According to the consulate, more and more cases have emerged where Uzbek nationals are offered high-paying jobs in Turkey. These offers often come with promises of a good salary, housing, and official documentation.
However, many citizens face situations where they receive only part of their wages—or none at all. Working conditions often turn out to be harsh and degrading. Some employers exploit workers illegally, violating their rights. Those working without a permit risk fines and deportation. In many cases, intermediaries disappear after the person arrives in Turkey, take their money, and cut off all contact.
The main problem is the lack of official contracts between victims and these intermediaries. As a result, it becomes very difficult to prove fraud or hold the scammers accountable.
The consulate has urged citizens to arrange employment in Turkey only through verified and official sources. Foreign nationals may work in Turkey only if they have a special work permit. Uzbek citizens can apply for employment abroad through the Agency for External Labour Migration under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
