President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has proposed renaming the city of Yangi Andijan to Bobur, in honor of the great historical figure Zahiriddin Muhammad Bobur. The president emphasized the importance of preserving and celebrating Bobur’s legacy, which brought global recognition to the nation.
«His struggle for peace and justice from a young age, along with the courage and bravery he demonstrated throughout his life, serve as a profound lesson in patriotism and self-sacrifice,» Mirziyoyev stated during a recent address.
The president added that it would be fitting not only to name streets and squares after Bobur, but to dedicate an entire city to his memory.
Kursiv Uzbekistan reported on Mirziyoyev’s visit to the Andijan trade fair, which featured exhibitions from more than 100 local enterprises.
