Uzbekistan Retrieves $95 Mln Seized from Gulnara Karimova

Switzerland has transferred $95 mln to Uzbekistan after investigators confirmed that former presidential daughter Gulnara Karimova amassed the money illegally, Deputy Economy and Finance Minister Otabek Fozilkarimov reports.
Officials have also agreed to repatriate an additional $131 mln.
Earlier, the government allocated $87 mln confiscated from Karimova to education and healthcare projects nationwide.
In April, Belgian authorities returned $108 mln to Tashkent. Prosecutors say Karimova collected the money in bribes from foreign telecom companies seeking licences in Uzbekistan.
