Northern Kazakhstan to Start Growing Industrial Hemp

The Ualikhanov district in the North Kazakhstan region will begin cultivating industrial hemp, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan has confirmed to Kursiv Kazakhstan.
Authorities plan to build an agricultural complex to grow and process the plant. Hemp can be used to produce more than 500 types of products, including paper, textiles and gunpowder, according to the ministry.
The Ministry of Agriculture also stated that an investor is already negotiating with regional officials to implement the project.
