Authorities at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow have detained a citizen of Uzbekistan who was wanted under an Interpol notice, according to the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Uzbekistan.

After verification, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs transferred the individual to Tashkent, where he was taken into custody by Uzbek law enforcement agencies.

The man, a former company director, reportedly took out a loan of $9 mln for cotton cultivation but failed to repay the debt. After selling the harvest, he fled abroad. Authorities issued an international warrant for his arrest on charges of large-scale embezzlement.
