The Central Asia-Italy summit will take place on May 30 in Astana, bringing together the heads of Central Asian states and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The announcement came from the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.
The summit was originally scheduled for late April, and Prime Minister Meloni had planned a visit to Uzbekistan as part of the trip. However, she cancelled due to the passing of Pope Francis.
Looking ahead, Central Asian nations are expected to hold a summit with China this summer, followed by the Central Asia–Russia summit in Dushanbe this autumn.
Kursiv Uzbekistan previously reported that the planned summit between Central Asia and the Gulf Cooperation Council has been postponed.
