Uzbekistan is ready to scale up economic ties with Italy through new formats of business dialogue and joint production. Speaking at the Central Asia – Italy summit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed creating a Central Asia – Italy Business Club.

The Club would operate under the chambers of commerce and bring together leading entrepreneurs from both sides.

«Such meetings could be held annually in our capitals, opening up new opportunities for trade and investment,» he said.

Mirziyoyev noted that trade and investment between Uzbekistan and Italy have nearly tripled in recent years. Ongoing technological projects with Italian firms reflect this growing partnership.

He suggested going further by launching a multilateral Industrial and Technological Cooperation Programme. The initiative would support technology transfer, localisation, and high-tech manufacturing.

Priority sectors include the processing of mineral and agricultural raw materials, modern equipment for electrical, chemical, textile, leather and food industries, and the creation of design centres with top Italian brands.

Uzbekistan also announced the creation of a special industrial park in the Tashkent region, to be managed by a European operator. To support regional projects, the President invited Italy’s SACE, SIMEST and joint investment funds to take part.
