Gazprom Quadruples Gas Exports to Uzbekistan in 2024

In 2024, the Russian energy giant Gazprom increased natural gas exports to Uzbekistan via the Central Asia–Center trunk pipeline system by a factor of 4.4, according to the company’s annual report reviewed by Kursiv Uzbekistan.
Over the past year, gas deliveries reached 5.64 bn cubic meters, compared to 1.28 bn cubic meters in 2023 — a 340.6% increase.
During the winter of 2023–2024, exports operated at the maximum technically allowable capacity of the pipeline system.
Exports to Uzbekistan began in October 2023 and are conducted in reverse flow mode through a special route utilizing sections of Central Asia–Center IV and Central Asia–Center V.
By the end of the year, Uzbekistan, along with China and Kazakhstan, ranked among the top three countries with the largest absolute growth in gas imports from Russia.
Gazprom’s report emphasizes that expanding gas cooperation with Central Asian countries will support sustainable economic growth in the region over the long term.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Uzbekistan has increased gas imports amid declining domestic production.
