President Mirziyoyev Congratulates the Nation on Eid al-Adha (Kurban Hayit)

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Uzbekistan and Muslims around the world on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, also known locally as Kurban Hayit.
«The values of this sacred holiday—such as humanism, solidarity, compassion, and generosity—fully align with the wide-reaching reforms being implemented in our country under the noble principle ‘For the sake of the individual, for their happiness,’» Mirziyoyev said.
He emphasised that these values contribute significantly to Uzbekistan’s national efforts to reduce poverty, support vulnerable populations, care for the elderly, empower youth and women, and expand social welfare programs.
Promoting Tolerance and Cultural Heritage
The Uzbek president also highlighted ongoing initiatives to strengthen interethnic and interfaith harmony, preserve spiritual heritage, and educate young people based on national and universal values.
Among the notable cultural projects mentioned:
- The designation of Samarkand as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2025
- The celebration of the 1155th anniversary of Imam Maturidi
- The upcoming opening of the Bahauddin Naqshband Scientific Center in Bukhara
- The construction of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent
These initiatives reflect Uzbekistan’s growing role in the Islamic world and commitment to cultural diplomacy.
Eid Celebrations and Pilgrimage
In his speech, President Mirziyoyev noted that 15,000 Uzbek pilgrims are currently performing the Hajj pilgrimage, and expressed his best wishes for their safe and blessed return home.
«In these sacred days, as heartfelt prayers are answered, we sincerely congratulate them on Kurban Hayit and pray for their safe return to our Motherland,» he said.
Addressing Uzbek citizens abroad, the president wished them health, happiness and success, and extended warm Eid greetings to Muslim communities worldwide.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Uzbekistan had sent 183 tons of humanitarian aid to Balkh province in Afghanistan, including essential food supplies, further demonstrating the country’s commitment to regional solidarity and humanitarian assistance.
