EU Outlines Top Priorities in Uzbekistan at TIIF 2025 Summit

The European Union is positioning Uzbekistan as the key partner in its new Central Asia Strategy, with a focus on climate infrastructure and industrial decarbonisation.
EU Ambassador Toivo Klaar said the Samarkand Summit in April 2025 marked a turning point.
Uzbekistan is now seen as a regional hub for investment, innovation, and cooperation.
«We don’t just extract resources. Europe offers knowledge, market access, and long-term partnership,» said Klaar.
Among priority areas:
- Hydrogen development and carbon capture: Linde is preparing to bring advanced CO₂ sequestration systems used in Saudi Arabia and North America to Uzbekistan’s oil and gas and metallurgy sectors.
- Green infrastructure: The EU and EIB will fund energy-efficient transport and industrial sites through the Global Gateway initiative.
- Critical raw materials and satellite communications: Named as new EU priorities in the region.
«We see Uzbekistan not only as a market — but as a strategic partner for resilient supply chains and climate goals,» said Klaar.
Earlier, Kursiv Uzbekistan reported that the European Investment Bank (EIB) will open its first regional office in Central Asia in Tashkent by the end of 2025.
