At the Tashkent Investment Forum, Uzbek and international experts discussed the planned establishment of the Tashkent International Commercial Court (TICC), according to the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade (MIIT).
Launching such a court would provide foreign investors with access to a common law-based legal system, which is more familiar to many international companies.
«The creation of TICC gives investors a real choice. The presence of arbitration, an economic court, and now a dedicated international commercial court means Uzbekistan is building a comprehensive legal environment for investors,» said Diana Bayzakova, Director of the Tashkent International Arbitration Center.
The new court is also expected to support the modernisation of legal education in Uzbekistan. Islambek Rustambekov, Rector of Tashkent State University of Law (TSUL), stated that the university is working on joint programs with British and American law schools.
Rustambekov added that demand for lawyers trained in common law is expected to grow in the future, and Uzbekistan must be prepared to meet that demand.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that the European Investment Bank plans to open an office in Uzbekistan by the end of 2025.
