Mirziyoyev Personally Congratulates National Team After Uzbekistan – Qatar Match

The triumph of Uzbek football became an international event, with foreign leaders in attendance at the historic match held at Bunyodkor Stadium.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally attended the national team’s final qualifying match against Qatar on June 10, 2025. The game ended in a confident 3–0 victory for Uzbekistan, marking the team’s historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent became a stage not only for sporting success but also a celebration of national pride. Speaking to the players and fans, the President emphasised that this achievement was the result of courage, resilience and structured preparation.
«I am sure that this historic victory will further unite our people in pursuit of noble goals and serve as a source of inspiration for our youth,» said Mirziyoyev.
Following the match, a ceremonial event took place in which the President awarded state honours — including honorary titles, orders and medals — to the players and coaching staff.

As a gesture of appreciation for their contribution to sports and this historic win, each player received a BYD automobile.

Among those honoured were team captain Eldor Shomurodov, who scored one of the three goals, and Abbosbek Fayzullaev, who stayed in the game despite an injury.
The match was significant not only for Uzbekistan but also on the international stage. Watching alongside President Mirziyoyev in the stands were Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and heads of government from several Central Asian countries.
