Career, Stability, Growth: What Uzbeks Look for in a Job

Job platform hh.uz surveyed over 350 job seekers in Uzbekistan and found that most of them value not only high salaries but also stability and professional growth.
The greatest satisfaction at work comes from a high salary, noted by 58% of respondents. However, nearly half also value interesting tasks and growth opportunities (46%), as well as team dynamics and workplace atmosphere (43%).
The top source of dissatisfaction is low income (50%), followed by emotional burnout (33%), lack of career progression (30%), and leadership style (26%). Only 16% said they are satisfied with their current job situation.
Uzbeks often refrain from changing jobs due to a lack of suitable opportunities (42%) or because of a stable income (38%). However, 31% said they are ready to quit at any moment—an indicator of high internal mobility in the labor market.
The top priority in a job remains stability and a sense of security (61%). Nearly half of the respondents also value professional growth (44%) and a respectful, comfortable environment (39%). One in four prioritize flexibility.
Looking ahead, the most common goal is getting promoted or changing positions (37%). Other top objectives include maintaining work-life balance and avoiding burnout (33%), switching companies or fields (29%), and developing new skills (27%).
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that youth unemployment in Uzbekistan had halved over the past eight months.
