Uzbekistan Triples Hi-Tech Exports Since 2017

According to the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRI), Uzbekistan’s share of high-tech products in total exports has tripled since 2017, reaching 1.5% by the end of 2024.
During the same period, the share of raw material exports was cut by more than half—from 36.3% to 17.3%. Major export items include copper, fruits and vegetables, natural gas and precious metals.
Exports of processed raw materials doubled over seven years, now accounting for 8.4% of total exports. This category includes mineral products, petroleum derivatives, cement and construction materials.
Low-tech exports (mainly textile yarn) rose from 14.2% to 17.1%, while medium-tech exports remained stable at 8%, although product complexity has increased—Uzbekistan now exports cars, auto parts, polyethylene, internal combustion engines and home appliances.
High-tech exports are led by televisions, electronic devices, equipment, generators and their components.
Kursiv Uzbekistan reports that a lack of international certifications continues to hinder textile exports from Uzbekistan.
