The film «Taymetov. Herald of Victory,» dedicated to the life of Uzbekistan’s first pilot, Abdusamat Taymetov, has won the Press Award at the prestigious Eurasia International Film Festival, as reported by Uzbekistan Airports.

The historical biopic, which beat out 90 competing entries from around the world, marks a significant recognition of Uzbek cinema on the international stage. The film had earlier been awarded Best Film at the Dialogue of Cultures forum.

«Thanks to the support of Uzbekistan Airports, we were able to study rich archival materials and museum collections,» said director Eldar Yuldashev. «This helped us tell the story of Uzbekistan’s first pilot and former Tashkent Airport director, and also highlight the nation’s unique aviation industry during World War II.»

The Eurasia Film Festival attracted filmmakers from 26 countries, showcasing diverse voices and cinematic traditions. Alongside «Taymetov. Herald of Victory», other notable films screened at the festival included «Umida. Dream of Fuji» and «Magtymguly Pyragy.»

The award adds momentum to the growing visibility of Uzbek historical cinema, particularly films that explore the country’s underrepresented heroes and contributions during pivotal moments in world history.

Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports the remarkable life of Abdusamat Taymetov and his impact on aviation and civil service in the country.
