Mirziyoyev: New Company to Be Established for Uzbekistan Sustainable Pasture Development

A new joint-stock company will be established in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region to efficiently manage and develop more than 1.3 mln hectares of pastures and forest lands, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced during a regional development meeting.
According to the president, the region’s natural resources — including 515,000 hectares of irrigated land and 45,000 hectares of household plots — represent one of the country’s largest untapped reserves. These lands have the potential not only to ensure food security for the region but also to meet the national demand for meat.
In 2024, agricultural production in Kashkadarya reached 43 trillion UZS. However, with the active introduction of scientific approaches, modern agrotechnologies, and water- and energy-saving solutions, this figure could grow to 100 trillion UZS over the next five years.
The newly formed company will operate as a joint-stock enterprise. An initial $100 mln will be allocated from the state budget, with an additional $500 mln expected to be attracted through investment. Over the next two years, the company aims to provide irrigation to at least 200,000 hectares of land and implement laser land-leveling technologies to maximize land productivity.
The pilot project will launch in the Miraki area, covering 520 hectares of terraced hilly terrain. The site has already been planted with vineyards, as well as cherry and apple orchards, expected to yield their first harvests within 4–5 months.
Kursiv Uzbekistan reported on the upcoming launch of an electronic platform for pasture management in the country.
